Birmingham City fans have been very quick to voice their own concerns in response to an open letter to Tom Wagner that was sent to the Blues owner from a worried supporter.

The letter was sent to the Birmingham Mail for inclusion in the letters page and represented a concerned viewpoint from a lifelong fan of the club. Of course, it would always be the case that the opinion might not be shared by everyone.

We are always happy to share the viewpoints of all fans and the letter in question stood out as a strong opinion at a time when Knighthead has so much to concentrate on on and off the field, with emotions high within the fanbase.

If you missed the letter, you can find it here. In the interests of balance, below are a list of just some of the responses on social media to the letter that we published from the disenchanted supporter.

READ: Blues need clarity on three coaches - and it all depends on manager

CapSense : I respect the right of the Kings Norton man to have an opinion, however naive and worthless it might be.

We are all hurting right now, and that hurt won't disappear for months - perhaps even for years - but the one thing that makes it almost bearable is that the Knighthead team have made it clear that the long-term plans for the club remain in place.

rocket-adventure: I welcome the new owners with open arms, especially after the previous owners and the misery and heartache for the last twenty years, we’ve made mistakes and bigger ones than appoint Wayne Rooney that’s for sure.

If you don’t score goals you don’t win games full stop, in golf, driving for show putting for dough, in darts, trebles for show doubles for dough,

We’ve always had a problem scoring goals at blues, going back to Trevor Francis management days, giving them shooting practice, target practice and even showing them how to do it. - If you don’t score you don’t win…. Let’s not upset the new owners as they might just say, enough is enough and walk away.

We have a bright promising wonderful future ahead so yes, I welcome the new owners with open arms. Onwards and upwards, the sky is blue…..KRO

swadblue: Great letter but I dont agree that 9 out of 10 are against the new stadium. I would suggest it's the other way round.

Jacqui Flynn : I do understand this gent penning this letter. Me personally i’d be happy to see the back of this stadium …. and move on to new pastures in the coming years. Two seperate projects but yes we need to know who the manager is going to be and build a new squad asap

Matthew Spencer: His understanding of the new stadium isn’t correct it won’t be blues stadium. So it has no effect on the ability of the club to invest in players or carry on playing on a “dung heap”

Danny Bindley : I for one can’t wait for a new stadium. But same time we need to get players

Alan Dawson: The whole point of the stadium is not just football but to generate funds for the team by having other events at this new stadium which will create jobs as well , I'm all for the stadium we have to move forward and upwards

Chris Wheldon: What absolute nonsense. Firstly the two projects are separate ie spending on a future stadium and sports district do not mean we can’t spend on the playing side. It is not a linear decision of rubbish ground great team or new stadium same rubbish on the field. That mindset of Blues fans drives me insane.

Frankly Wagners investment will be futile and unprofitable if all he achieves is a slightly more competitive version of Birmingham City possibly eventually flirting again with championship play offs but sat at a frankly second rate stadium.

I would very much hope that investment in the team as much as rules allow will be the short-term spending plan with the stadium being ready for when we are established back in the Prem.

Richard Wilkinson: One hundred percent agree with this letter

Nutcase25: Can’t wait for a new stadium and everything else that Tom and co are going to deliver, just a little bit closer to home (football) I’d love to be promoted by Easter what a boost that would be

Steveruss57: Sorry Terry, I am in agreement with the other comments here. Your observations on the season are fair, I think few would disagree with most of what you said. However on the stadium I do strongly disagree. The "project" was always more than just football it is about a vision for the city as a whole, the links with people like Steve Knight and the redevelopment on the East Side prove that. The playing side will get the investment it needs and we will move forward.

Cliff Meason: Sorry Terry Your totally wrong my friend I've supported the Blues just a little longer than you, my family members lived in Marion place on the bomb peck where I had short walk to the ground, my uncle worked in the royal George for many years, St Andrews isn't fit for purpose anymore due to the volume of traffic and growing population and a new stadium is the way forward, I do agree with your take on some players that haven't performed and I trust the new owners to do the right thing for all of us supporters, over and out, KRO.

Wearyone: i agree with everything you have said, apart from the stadium. new stadium, bigger revenue etc etc. i don't believe that 9 out of 10 supporters are against it. otherwise, well said.

Steveppp : Disagree. Yes. last season was a disappointment, and yes, we should have done better. Stick to the plan. The owners have the backing of almost all of the fans. Lets close the door on last season, forget Rooney, Eustace etc etc., move on.

Focus on this coming season, build a management structure and team to take us forward. Target to go undefeated ! ( good pun eh?)

Mark Jackson: A lot of sense written there and definitely picks up on what most of us thought that it’s great what they’re doing off the pitch but it’s the team on the pitch that is the most important and a winning side, big shiny new stadiums mean nothing without this.

Trombone: He makes a very valid point, whilst I'm delighted to see the plans for the future stadium and all the benefits it will undoubtedly bring, I'm worried about the lack of planning for the development of the first team

Birmingham City chairman Tom Wagner
Birmingham City chairman Tom Wagner

M Brennan : There’s a lot I agree with in this but the stadium is a must. It’s the only reason these owners are here and the only reason they’d stay. If the stadium goes ahead then they cannot let the project fail. That’s exciting!

Anthony Lloyd : No stadium should be mentioned till prem is back tbh

Kirk P: He makes a good point with a lot of that to be honest .

Lichfield Blues: Let’s all pile on Terry cos he has a different opinion. A lot of what he says is dead on

Markdh: Terry is wrong when he says 9 out of 10 fans see it his way. Does Terry not realise we were under tight FFP restrictions for previous recruitment? Injury prone freebies were all we could afford. And the money set aside for the stadium development is a different pot to player recruitment money, building the stadium will, in fact, enable us to spend MORE on players long term, but will have no impact on player spend in the short term.

bluebuttrue : I don't agree with Terry. Tom stick to the strategy. Big investment in the playing staff and continued investment to the infrastructure. See you next season don't listen to doom and gloomers

thedon88: We DO need a new stadium. This will generate greater income which will enable us to recruit better players. I dont think the plan is to stay in league 1 and this 10,000 fans statement is pure rubbish. We took 50,000 fans to Wembley for the AWS final when last in third tier. The rest I agree with ans hopefully lessons have been learnt.

rg48: Doesn’t speak for me. It’s hand in hand isn’t it? Build a better ground, generate revenue, improve the team over time. Creating 3000 jobs. Eustace had to go, Rooney mistake we all know that. Stick to your plans Tom and don’t listen to this sort sightedness

BigBobLatch: You don't speak for me and 99.9 per cent of other Blues fans Terry. You are aware it might take a few years to build the stadium and 'sports quarter'? It is also for the benefit of Birmingham as well as the club? If we hadn't got an owner prepared to invest BILLIONS, you'd happily sit at a falling down St. Andrew's watching mind numbing football John Eustace thought was OK?
