Fulham eye £20 million deal for Stoke, West Brom, Aston Villa and Norwich target

Fulham are once again preparing to splash the cash as they aim for an instant return to thank e Premier League.

The Express via the Birmingham Mail are reporting that Fulham will bid as much as £20 million to sign Newcastle striker Dwight Gayle.

Gayle has a proven track record at Championship level. He spent last season on loan at West Brom where he netted on 24 occasions as the Baggies finished 4th in the table but missed out on promotion after losing to Aston Villa on penalties at the semi-final stage. There is still hope from the Baggies fan base that they can bring their top scorer back for the 2019-20 season but due to FFP rules even affording his wages in a loan deal is looking very expensive.

Gayle himself wants to give things another go at Newcastle. However, there is big uncertainty on Tyneside at the moment with a supposed takeover still not gone through and the futures of several players including Gayle up in the air along with Manager Rafa Benitez, who’s contract ends at the end of June with talks ongoing about a new deal.

Any deal that Fulham pull off is likely to see Aleksander Mitrovic leave West London and head back to the Premier League. Although Scott Parker’s are yet to receive an offer for the Serbian that they deem acceptable.

It is not just Fulham and West Brom that are interested in Gayle’s services.

Aston Villa, Stoke and Norwich are also reported to be interested in the former Palace striker. If West Brom are to re-open negations with the Magpies the future of Solomon Rondon could be a key feature. He spent last season on loan at St James’ Park and is reportedly keen on a return to the North East.
