Town or Lincoln at Coventry in FA Cup Second Round
Monday, 11th Nov 2019 19:18

Town will face fellow League One side Coventry City away at St Andrew's in the second round of the FA Cup if they beat Lincoln City at Sincil Bank in their first round replay on Wednesday 20th November.

If Town progress against Lincoln then they will face Coventry at St Andrew's on two successive weekends.

Second round ties will be played over the weekend of Saturday 30th November, while the Blues travel to take on the Sky Blues in League One the following Saturday.

The FA Cup game appears likely to be on the Sunday, or perhaps the Friday, with Birmingham having a Championship home game against Millwall on the Saturday. The Monday seems less likely as Town will have a Leasing.com Trophy tie that midweek.

The Sky Blues beat Colchester United 2-0 at the JobServe Community Stadium in round one on Saturday.

Town and Coventry have never previously met in the FA Cup, although they have drawn one another in the League Cup on four occasions, most recently in 2000 when the Blues won 2-1 at Portman Road, and once in the Simod Cup.

This evening's draw took place at Oaklands Park, the home ground of Chichester City, who are the lowest-ranked club left in the competition, with Dion Dublin and Mark Bright pulling the balls from the bowl.

Not a great draw - I hate going to St Andrews, saw us win 3-0 there many years ago, but it's been miserable there mostly. And that's assuming we get past Lincoln.

Couldn't be much worse. Tough game, low crowd.

It's hard to see us winning at Lincoln though with a second team playing.

Was really hoping for a good non league tie v Maldon and Tiptree, but this has to be the most boring of FA Cup ties. Forget the Lincoln replay, let's just boss the league and get the most likely (and welcome) piece of silverware this season.

Birmingham appear to have a Sat league game, so would expect a Sunday game

As much as I LOVE the FA Cup...who gives a sh#t about the FA Cup this season...the manager obviously doesn't. I can't give a damn about it. Manager don't care...I don't care!!

The fact we could make lots of money from a good cup run you would think that Marcus would care.

I think the overpaid players at our club should cut down on training too. It must be really tiring. Don't want them picking up an injury either. Cut out the training...just pick them for a game once every 3 weeks. I feel sorry for them...it's tough work being a prima donna footballer these days. #snowflake springs to mind!

That's one of the toughest draws we could have got but probably immaterial as our B team are unlikely to beat Lincoln anyway. Concentrate on the league.

Oh no, don't say it's true.......we've been sent to Coventry. Must be a coded message for the moaners, who occasionally pop up!

Another underwhelming draw playing another club in our division (was hoping for Maldon & Tiptree) but it's all hypothetical as I'll be amazed if we get through to the next round or even get through to playing one of the 'bigger boys'in round 3.

These are good challenging games for the second string. Do we really want the bench boys to smash a non-league team at home? Doesnt benefit anyone.
