Wayne Rooney had his new teammates in stitches laughter amongst his gaming YouTubers teammates after his deadpan response to a 'granny' jibe received on livestream. The Manchester United and England legend was announced as the latest addition to Girth N Turf, an EA Sports FC Pro Clubs side launched by YouTubers Angry Ginge, real name Morgan Burtwistle, and Yung Filly, aka Andres Felipe Barrientos.

And the former Birmingham City manager has been fitting in well. During a livestream on social media, Angry Ginge addressed a comment popping up on the screen. He said: "For some reason I am just being called 'you are a fat granny s******" apparently, cheers mate. Someone is obviously not very happy that Real Madrid won."

Rather than ignoring it, Rooney bluntly piped up to say: "I don't think that was aimed at you". The comment caused much laughter among the team, as fellow squad member Aaron Hunt agreed: "I don't think that was aimed at you either Ginge."

Well-known for being Manchester United's all-time top goalscorer - and England's top scorer until Harry Kane overtook him - Rooney is also well-know for his antics off the pitch. He was involved in a scandal in 2004 where he reportedly visited a brothel, and allegedly had encounters with Gina McCarrick, who was 37 at the time, and grandmother Patricia Tierney, then 48. While Tierney refuted these claims, Rooney has acknowledged past indiscretions involving sex workers.

Rooney took charge of Birmingham City in October 2023, signing a three-and-a-half year deal at St. Andrew's. He was sacked by Blues in January 2024 after just 83 days in charge.
