Ipswich Town's promotion rivals Leeds United have been beaten 4-0 at QPR, allowing Leicester City to secure their return to the Premier League.

Daniel Farke's men were aiming to build on their impressive 4-2 victory at Middlesbrough, but found themselves behind when Ilias Chair curled a deflected strike into the bottom corner to open the scoring in the eighth minute.

The R's doubled their lead 14 minutes later, capitalising on a sustained period of pressure as Lucas Andersen fired into the back of the net from a tight angle.

Leeds, who looked poor in a first half where they mustered just two shots on target, showed an improvement in the early stages of the second half. However, Lyndon Dykes was able to capitalise on a corner that Illan Meslier failed to claw away, adding a third with 73 minutes on the clock.

The hosts wrapped up the win with four minutes to go as Sam Field headed Chair's cross through the gloves of Meslier, handing the visitors their heaviest defeat of the season.

The result means that QPR have secured their safety while Leicester have confirmed promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking. The Foxes can also secure the title if they beat Preston North End on Monday night and Ipswich fail to beat Hull City tomorrow night.

Ipswich, on the other hand, need five points from their final three games to confirm their place in the Premier League. Should they beat Hull and Coventry City, they'll be promoted at the CBS Arena on Tuesday night.

The top of the Championship table now reads: Leicester P44 94pts, Leeds P45 90pts, Ipswich P43 89pts, Southampton P44 84pts.
