Fans could not help but see the funny side at Crewe Alexandra's pie post on a day of chaos in League Two.

The League Two play-offs were thrown into a logistical nightmare after Crawley Town announced that they could not host their first-leg clash against MK Dons hours before kick-off.

And ahead of the other League Two play-off semi-final between Crewe Alexandra and Doncaster Rovers, the former revealed their own problems ahead of kick-off - with their pies.

Writing on social media site X, Crewe wrote: "Due to circumstances beyond our control, there has been a change to the selection of pies and pastries on sale during today’s game.

"We thank supporters for their understanding."

Fans saw the funny side to Crewe's predicament, with one replying sarcastically: "May as well just call it off lads."

Fans were left mystified after making the journey only for the decision to be announced hours before kick-off due to a waterlogged pitch at the Broadfield Stadium.

A statement read: "Crawley Town Football Club is disappointed to announce that this afternoon's Sky Bet League Two Play-Off Semi-Final first leg has been postponed due to a waterlogged surface at the Broadfield Stadium.

"Details of a rearranged fixture will be released as soon as possible."

Meanwhile, MK Dons' statement read: "MK Dons' Play-Off first leg fixture against Crawley Town at Broadfield Stadium has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch."
