Blackburn Rovers are reportedly mulling over a permanent deal for Birmingham City defender Dion Sanderson.

Sanderson, 25, has just completed a loan at Ewood Park which saw him feature 12 times in the Championship in the second half of the season.

The centre-back only made two appearances in League One for Blues before Christmas and his position at the club isn't likely to change under Chris Davies.

Davies has preferred Christoph Klarer, Krystian Bielik and Rangers loanee Ben Davies to Sanderson and the club have already signed Phil Neumann for their assault on next season’s Championship.

Sanderson knows only too well that his future is uncertain heading into this summer’s market.

Asked what the future holds for him, Sanderson told RoversTV: “I’m not too sure if I’m honest, it’s the first time I can say it’s a bit up in the air. I’ll just have to wait and see.

“In my off-season I will be working anyway so whatever happens I’ll be ready for. I can see myself coming back here (Blackburn) and watching a game or two. The time I spent here has been great for me.”

According to The Sun, Blackburn could make Sanderson a permanent addition for around £1million. It’s claimed the deal could hinge on whether fellow Wolverhampton-born defender Danny Batth agrees to extend his contract at Ewood Park.

Blues paid £2m to sign Sanderson from Wolves two years ago but they will have to cut their losses to shift him this summer. Sanderson has two years remaining on his contract at St Andrew's @ Knighthead Park.
