Marvin Ducksh and Kyogo Furuhashi scored late goals as Birmingham City secured only their third away win of the Championship season at bottom club Sheffield Wednesday. The Owls made life difficult in the first half playing a very compact system which Blues failed to find a way through. In addition, Blues were poor in the first half with low tempo and stray passes. Things improved in the second half with Blues much more on the front foot and creating a number of chances without hitting the back of the net. Eventually Blues did break the deadlock in the 82nd minute with a tap in from a Jay Stansfield shot. Birthday boy Kyogo grabbed a second in stoppage time after latching on to a stray back pass and finishing from a tight angle.
In this podcast we discuss some of the key moments in the game and provide our general thoughts on the team selection, the formation and overall performance as well as some wider issues and opinions. We welcome comments from Birmingham City or Sheffield Wednesday supporters below this podcast.

Birmingham City have signed centre forward August Priske from Swedish topflight side Djurgarden. Priske is 6ft 5in tall and is known for his aerial ability, physical strength and importantly for his goals, all attributes that the Blues have been crying out for for a long time. He has emerged as one of the most prolific young strikers in Scandinavian football and is often described as a "complete forward" or a "modern target man." He combines traditional physical dominance with a high football IQ, allowing him to serve as both a focal point for long balls and a clinical finisher inside the box.
In this Podcast we discuss Birmingham City's latest new signing. Learn all about his former transfers, playing style, career highlights, where he will fit in and what he will contribute to the Blues squad. As Birmingham City fans we explain what we can expect from our new addition.

After securing their first point on the road since November last time out Birmingham City travel once again as they face bottom of the table Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough. The Owls have had a torrid season having been hit with an 18-point deduction following indiscretions from their previous owner and have been hampered by the need to sell numerous players and compounded by a transfer embargo. The Blues will go into the game looking for three much needed points and looking for just their third away win of the season, although they too will be hindered by injuries to a number of key players.
In this podcast we discuss key players, possible formations and key strengths and possible weaknesses for each team. We welcome comments from Birmingham City or Sheffield Wednesday supporters below this podcast.

Birmingham City picked up only their second away point since November with a hard fought draw in South Wales against Swansea City. The Blues have been struggling on their travels this season and currently boast the worst points won per game average in the whole division so will be happy to come away with a point. Swansea were on top in the first half and took the lead in the 21st minutes with a well worked goal from Jan Vipotnik. Blues were much better in the second half and despite Swansea missing a number of good chances and hitting the woodwork on two occasions the Blues managed an equalizer in the 72nd minute from Sunderland loanee Patrick Roberts.
In this podcast we discuss some of the key moments in the game and provide our general thoughts on the team selection, the formation and overall performance as well as some wider issues and opinions. We welcome comments from Birmingham City or Swansea City supporters below this podcast.

Birmingham City continue to strengthen their Championship squad in the January transfer window with the loan capture of Colombian rising star Jhon Solis from La Liga side Girona. Solís is a modern "box-to-box" defensive midfielder who utilizes his large frame (1.86m) to dominate the centre of the pitch. He is known for good tactical discipline and an "organised" approach to the game. Rather than being a ‘flashy’ player, he acts as a recycler of possession, maintaining high pass completion rates and protecting the backline through clever positioning. The Blues have been looking to add some height and physically to the team and this addition seems to fit the bill nicely, and will be hoping that he can transition from La Liga to the Championship smoothly and quickly.
In this Podcast we discuss Birmingham City's latest new signing. Learn all about his former transfers, playing style, career highlights, where he will fit in and what he will contribute to the Blues squad. As Birmingham City fans we explain what we can expect from our new addition.

The January Transfer is really hotting up as clubs up and down the country scramble to add to their squads to either challenge near the top of the table or to move away from the dreaded relegation places. Birmingham City are currently in mid-table in the EFL Championship and will be looking to add to the squad in order to try to challenge for the play off positions and to also strengthen in key positions where players such as Keshi Anderson, Erin Cashin, Lyndon Dykes and others have recently departed the club. With just over a few weeks remaining in the January transfer window there promises to be many more ups and downs as the transfer rollercoaster continues to run.
In this podcast we discuss some of the latest transfer rumours and give our opinions on whether the players speculated to be of interest to Birmingham City would be good additions or whether we think the Blues should look elsewhere.

Birmingham City travel to Swansea City in the next round of the EFL Championship fixtures and despite having the worst away record in the league on a points per game basis will be buoyed by their 3-2 victory last time out against league leaders Coventry City. The Swans come into the game in reasonably good form having won 5 out of their last 8 league matches and will know that victory and three points will take them above the Blues in the league table. The match is an important game for both teams who will both want to push themselves into the top half of the Championship table.

The next five league matches against Swansea City, Sheffield Wednesday, Stoke City, Oxford United and Leicester City could prove pivotal. In this podcast we consider how we think Blues will perform and with three of the five matches being away from home, whether they can find a way to improve their exceptionally poor away form which is currently the worst in the league on a point per game basis.

Birmingham City are safely through to the fourth round of the FA Cup after 3-2 away victory against League Two highflyers Cambridge United. The Blues were cruising with a 3-0 scoreline after 80 minutes however two late goals from the U’s made for a nervous end to the game for Championship Blues. Kai Wagner opened the scoring for the Blues mid-way through the first half and a first goal since August from Kyogo meant the Blues went into the break with a two-goal lead. Marvin Ducksch made it 3-0 early in the second half but the Blues were made to work for the win with the two late Cambridge goals late in the game.

After the hectic festive period league football takes a break this weekend as Birmingham City travel to Cambridge United in the third round of the FA Cup. Neil Harris's 'U's' are currently in fantastic form and sit sixth in the League Two table having won five and drawing five of their last ten games. Blues ended a seven match winless run last time out as they toppled Championship leaders Coventry City, so will come into the game with a little more confidence. Team selection will be very interesting from Chris Davies who will need to decide whether to rotate the squad or pick a strong starting line up. Either way this could prove to be a tough game for the Blues who will want to avoid a shock FA Cup effort.
In this podcast we discuss key players, possible formations and key strengths and possible weaknesses for each team. We welcome comments from Birmingham City or Cambridge supporters below this podcast.

Birmingham City produced a fantastic, resilient performance to stun Championship leaders Coventry City with a 3-2 victory at St.Andrews@KnightheadPark. The Blues had not won in their previous seven league games and the Sky Blues were favourites to take all three points, however two goals from Marvin Ducksch and a first goal in a Royal Blue shirt from Louis Koumas were enough to claim all three points. Kai Wagner only joined Birmingham City a few days before but was thrown straight in to make his debut at left back. Within six minutes Wagner provided a fantastic assist for the first goal and went on to make some fantastic tackles/interceptions. Overall the performance and commitment from all of the Blues players was there for all to see and allowed the Bluenoses to go home with that winning for the first time in a while.

Next up for Birmingham City at St.Andrews@KnightheadPark is the visit of league leaders Coventry City. The Blues come into the game in really poor form having not won in the last seven matches which has seen them tumble down the EFL Championship league table, sitting 17th and only a few places above the relegation zone. Coventry have had a fantastic season so far but are also having a bit of a wobble by their own high standards, winning just two of he last seven games. Blues are in the middle of an injury crisis and will be glad to see the end of the congested Christmas/New Year fixtures will be glad that the January transfer window has now opened and give the opportunity to bring in much needed reinforcements.
